Lesson script
Major chord: start on the root (letter name). From the next half step above the root, count four half steps for the middle note, then three more for the top — Cynthia’s studio way: root, up four, up three. Build F major, D major, A major. Check against shapes you already know. Done when: you can build a major triad on a letter someone else picks.
Instrument paths
- Piano: Count half steps aloud including black keys.
- Strings: Root + fifth first, then add the third.
- Percussion: Three taps: root, third, fifth.
Learning modes
- Solo child: Build five random majors.
- Child + parent: Parent picks letters from a jar.
- Family: Race to build (accuracy over speed).
