You are not limited to “correct” chords only — but the six chords of C give you a safe net. Hum a simple tune your family knows. Find the starting note near Middle C. Hunt by ear. When you get stuck, hold a C, F, or G underneath and keep searching. Done when: eight notes of a known tune are found without written music.
