Lesson script

Composers create on silence. Hold a C octave in the left hand, sustain pedal down. With the right hand, play only C–E–G in any order, any rhythm. Long pauses are allowed — they are the drama.

Try the same recipe on Dm, Em, F, G, Am (matching octave in the left hand). Clear the pedal when you change octaves so it does not get muddy.

Remember combinations you love. Those are your creations.

Done when: you can perform 30–45 seconds you would play for someone you love.

Instrument paths

  • Piano: LH octave + RH chord-tone noodle + pedal clears.
  • Strings: Long tones under the piano improvisation.
  • Percussion: Rain-on-roof soft taps during silences only.

Learning modes

  • Solo child: Child records a phone voice-memo of their piece.
  • Child + parent: Parent is audience first, then offers one compliment + one curiosity.
  • Family: Family layers: pulse person joins only on rests or only on long notes.
